After the discussion, the students were asked to complete the Introductory Exercise (page 6). The students’ understanding of the type characteristics in the Introductory Exercise was evaluated. The results are shown in Table 2.

The results indicate that students’ understanding of type characteristics and their accuracy of perceiving them were quite low. ESFJs and ISTPs were generally less accurate in perceiving type characteristics than their respective opposite types, but there was little difference between them. However, the differences between types were not statistically significant, except for a few cases (e.g., ISTPs were significantly less accurate than ESFJs in perceiving ISTP’s idealist characteristic).
