Misogi Hodaka personality type is ESTP, or extroverted, sensing, thinking, perceiving. And while that’s a pretty solid personality type, some of the people I’ve seen with it are some of the most annoying people on the planet. They’re loud, they’re obnoxious, and (if they’re lucky) they get to be on TV. It’s not the personality type for me.
But there are lots of ESTPs in anime, and it’s not always an awful thing. Take Benio Adashino from My Hero Academia. She’s a high school teacher, and she’s a good teacher, but she’s also a super loud and obnoxious person. I was kind of hoping that would be a bit toned down in the anime, but so far it hasn’t been.
In fact, just recently she used a hands free cellphone while teaching a class. And she didn’t even apologize for it! Honestly, what is this world coming to?
I don’t want to be incredibly negative about these characters, but I do want to start a conversation about whether this is a good thing in anime.
