Dave personality type is ESFP, and I love having a lot of people around me and being social. I love to be able to speak and network with people and enjoy the company of other people. When you’re at a show, as much as I love the music, I love meeting the other fans and talking about the music.
I don’t know if you can tell from my voice, but it’s a little bit like a Lamaze breathing. (laughs) So I’m not the best talker and I’m always trying to practice that — or even just practicing for this interview — but, again, I love having a lot of people around me and I’m always trying to make sure I’m involved in things, like going to the merchandise table and talking to people.
So there’s definitely an element of wanting to be social and involved with others, which is why I love doing this. The music is great but the others around the music are great, too. And then also being a performer, you have to work at it a little bit, but then you get into that flow where it just feels comfortable and you’re just going.
