Thorn personality type is ISFP, and we all know what ISFPs are like. So it is no surprise that this book is about a 16 year old girl who is on the verge of the mature ISFP. I am not sure how I feel about this.
A boy of such a young age- and with such a maturity level of an adult- is, by all means, a very interesting subject matter for a fantasy. However, I found that the author took it too far. The character was desperately trying to fit himself into the mold of what he thinks is "mature." He steps on toes and does things he knows he shouldn't do, and tries to fix himself by making himself mature.
Then there were the side characters. I was not a big fan of the characters in this book. Their motives were unclear in most aspects, and they were very static. The author seemed to have set out to create a cast of characters that would be in constant conflict with each other, but in the end, only two really mattered in the story. They were supposed to be "lying" in one way or another, but they were all predictable, and the "lies" they told were just plain stupid.
