Background
Little is known about his history, but it is assumed that he was born in the same era as the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. It is also thought that he was born with the name "Yagura" (ヤグラ, Yagura), but the name "Yagura" was changed to "Yagura Ōtsutsuki" after his birth.[8] Due to being an extremely powerful demon, he was thought to be the Second Hokage's grandson.
Yagura met his first student, Madara Uchiha, at some point, and became determined to create an even more powerful ninja than himself for him to use. He created the ten-tailed demon fox from his own body, which he named Kurama.[9] After Madara learned how to control Kurama, Yagura decided to have a final test to see how much Madara had truly learned from him, and used the Nine-Tails' chakra to kill Madara's friend Izuna Uchiha. Yagura continued to train Madara in the ways of the ninja after this.[10]
