Origins
The Akimichi are descended from the Akimichi clan, which claimed origins in the province of Akita. The Akimichi clan once ruled the territory of Hachiroa in the Hachiroa Province. The Akimichi clan was an important clan during the Sengoku period (1568–1603).
During the Azuchi–Momoyama period, the Akimichi lost their position as lords of Hachiroa and faded into obscurity for several centuries. As a result, the Akimichi clan was not closely related to other clans.
During the Edo period, the Akimichi clan was finally confirmed as having come from the Uki region of the Tōhoku district. The ancestor of this clan was a samurai named Hashimoto Kan'ichi, who fought for Uki Morioka Castle during the Sengoku period.
