In addition to the standard "Jōganbi" personality type, the "Jōganbi" have a special "himitsu" character, called the "Himitsu Hōōki". This is a gift from the Shinto deity Kūkai that allows a "Jōganbi" to see the future. This gift is usually received by a Jōganbi at a very young age, and only a few have been known to lose it. The gift itself can be lost, either through a natural death, or by being killed in battle. It is not known how many "Jōganbi" have lost the gift, but it has been reported that around two hundred have been killed in battle without losing the gift.
The "Himitsu Hōōki" is usually bestowed upon only one member of a family at a time. The reason why is unknown, and in some cases it has been given to several members in the same family in the same generation. The gift has also been bestowed upon family members who were not of Jōganbi bloodline.
