Rowan Im personality type is ENTP, although people often mistake me for INTP. I’m also an ENFJ, but those types don’t leave the same impression on people as ENTP.
In my opinion, it’s easier to see the differences between the types than it is to see the similarities. Most books, articles and websites spend a lot of time contrasting the differences between the types. I took the opposite approach. I chose to focus on the similarities.
I chose to focus on the similarities because that’s what I found most useful. I chose to look at each type using its own traits as the criteria for comparison. I also chose to focus on the 16 basic dichotomies (4 of them are not present in all 16 types).
I want to make it clear that the 16 basic dichotomies are not meant to explain all of a type’s characteristics. They’re simply a tool for assessing and comparing one type with another and looking for similarities and differences.
I chose 16 dichotomies because I thought that would be enough to cover most of the important characteristics of each type – especially since I’m not including the tertiary function in the comparisons.
