When we consider the Medusa personality type, we might think of the famous story of Perseus and Medusa, a myth that has been known for centuries. In the original myth, Perseus was the son of Zeus and Danae/Danae. As was her custom, Danae had given birth to a son every nine days; however, one day, Zeus came to visit her and found a baby girl instead of a son. Danae was so offended by this that she persuaded her husband to transform Danaë’s baby into a gorgon, a beast with snakes for hair, a head made of snakes instead of human-looking hair, and a pair of serpents for legs. The gorgon, as it turns out, was the daughter of the sea god Phorcys and Ceto/Ceto, who were demanding that Zeus turn her into a gorgon as punishment for stealing her father’s eye.
