What’s a rare type?
Personality types are a relatively new idea. Before the 1970s, there was no such thing as a “personality test” or a “personality profile” or a “personality type.” There were only tests for IQ, aptitude, and so forth. In the 1970s, psychologists started to notice that there were certain types of test results that were very prevalent, which were called “normal distributions.” Normal distributions are graphs that look like bell curves. Here’s a normal distribution for a very common IQ measure:
