Sebille hates her parents, who are very abusive and neglectful towards her. They are dead when the events of Final Fantasy XII take place. She was raised by her uncle, who she calls "Uncle". At the start of the game, her uncle takes her in, because she has nowhere else to go, and tells her that she can stay there for as long as she likes. As the game progresses, Sebille grows to hate her uncle, who becomes more aggressive towards her. By the end of the game, Sebille has lost all hope in her uncle, and believes he will never change. This causes the story to end on an optimistic note, with Sebille feeling grateful to be alive and happy to have met Vaan.
Sebille's personality is similar to that of the character she serves as a basis for, Rosetta from Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Both are silent, awkward girls who eventually become members of an airship crew.
