Kagero is a game that has an objective similar to that of Go in the West. The game is played on a board of 19 x 19 squares made up of three rows of 9 squares each, with three 2x2 squares in the middle for the players to place their stones. The object of the game is to capture one's opponent's stones by surrounding them. Capturing can be done when the opponent's stones are adjacent to the player's own stones, when the opponent's stones are two or more squares away from their own pieces, or when the opponent's stones are surrounded by one's own stones. Capturing, however, is not the only way to win; players may also win by claiming a territory (by occupying at least one square of it) for all of their stones. The game ends when neither player has any stones left on the board.
