When I first met Sophie I realized she had some internalized self-doubt. She also had some of the traits of a very healthy, strong personality (her type is ESFP). But she had some unhealthy traits as well. This type of personality is common amongst people who had some very difficult experiences as children, and then internalized those experiences and grew up feeling somewhat broken and somewhat fearful.
So Sophie and I began working together to help her see and understand what had happened to her. We realized that she had been sexually abused as a child by an uncle, who was a family friend. He was not her biological uncle. Her mother’s boyfriend, who was the biological uncle, was the one who took advantage of her innocence. She was very young at that time, and he took advantage of her being so young.
When she was almost 7 years old, Elly’s boyfriend told her that her uncle wanted to have sex with Elly so he could have a baby with her.
