Brenda Spencer (born April 3, 1962) is an american criminal who is responsible for the Grover Cleveland Elementary School shooting, which took place on January 29, 1979, at a public elementary school in San Diego, California, United States. The principal and a custodian were killed; eight children and a police officer were injured. Although 16 years old at the time, she was charged as an adult, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and assault with a deadly weapon, and was given an indefinite sentence. As of September 2019, she remains in prison.
