On December 11, 2020, YouTuber and commentator Nick Crowley published a video on his YouTube channel bringing light to the fact that PlasmaMasterDon might be a recently registered sex offender. Nick Crowley originally found this theory in a post on the r/MorbidReality subreddit. The post on the subreddit linked two sex offender registry sites, both showing a person named Donzel Edward Owens, a 73-year-old man from Ohio, who got arrested on August 19, 2019, for sexual imposition. His victim was an underage boy. Four days after the post on r/MorbidReality was posted, PlasmaMasterDon announced on October 14, 2020, that his health was hindering his singing abilities and that he would likely step away from YouTube. PlasmaMasterDon allegedly passed away on December 21, 2020, due to a lengthy illness however, this has been unconfirmed.
