Ian Brady personality type is ISTP, and he would be quite an interesting person to know. He was a practical and down-to-earth type and came across as a man with a very strong moral code and no tolerance for wrongdoing. He was the kind of person you could trust, and you would probably want to know him. He lived alone in a house he had designed himself, and he had a cat called Dora because “it was like having a little girl around”. It is very likely that he was an ISTP as well as an INFP as he was very much in touch with his feelings.
Brady’s life began at 5 years old when his mother died. His father, who was an alcoholic, married another woman soon after, but her new husband beat Brady’s father up one night for not feeding him properly. Brady’s father died of a heart attack soon after, and his stepmother beat him up for apparently not being able to care for him properly. Brady moved to London with his stepmother, where she beat him up again, this time for not doing his chores. Brady turned to drink, which possibly pushed him towards the borderline of alcoholism.
The Moors murders were carried out by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley between July 1963 and October 1965, in and around Manchester, England. The victims were five children aged between 10 and 17—Pauline Reade, John Kilbride, Keith Bennett, Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans—at least four of whom were sexually assaulted. Two of the victims were discovered in graves dug on Saddleworth Moor; a third grave was discovered there in 1987, more than twenty years after Brady and Hindley's trial.
