I have always been a very “people-oriented” type. I loved being around people and being in the center of the action. I spent a lot of time being social, so I’m always the type of person that wants people to feel good and have a great time. And I love to be the person people go to for advice and support. Even though I feel the need to be close to people, I don’t like people to feel too close to me. I want them to feel safe and comfortable with me, but I don’t want to be smothered.
I think that’s a common ESFJ trait. We want to be close to our friends and loved ones, but we don’t want to be smothered by them. We try to be supportive and kind without smothering them.
