Chloe Carmichael personality type is ENFJ, no matter how much she tries to convince herself otherwise. And the only way Chloe can find a way to cope with it is by shutting out the world and trying to numb herself. “I’m a poet, not a philosopher.”
In the beginning of the book, Chloe is described as an ENFJ who is deciding between two career paths: one is a “sophisticated, intellectual” one that would be making her comfortable and the other is “a sweet, safe, predictable life that would have been a good fit for me years ago”. She had been a cheerleader in high school and she had always dreamt of being a famous poet, but she still had to deal with the pressure of being a cheerleader and being a poet. It was her love for both of them that had made Chloe realize that she couldn’t have them both.
In the next chapter, Chloe was introduced to Ryan, who also happened to be a poet. She was immediately attracted to him because he was just like her in almost every way except that he was more open about his feelings and he wasn’t afraid to express them.
