Star Trek: Discovery creators David Semel and Aaron Harberts spoke with Variety about the character's creation, and what fans can expect from the character.
"I think the audience will be able to see very early on, if they've been paying attention to anything we've said about this character, that he's not all he appears to be," Harberts said. "That's part of what's exciting about this."
"David and I talked about what we were trying to do with the character, and really tried to make him as much as we could our own creation, our own person," Semel added. "We talked about he's got to be really different than any other Klingon that's ever been seen. He's got to be different than any other Klingon leader that's ever been seen on a screen before.
