Bill personality type is ISTJ, and he is also an ESTJ, which is a combination of the Extraverted Sensing and Judging functions. He is not naturally introverted or extraverted, but he is very much an introvert or extrovert depending on his mood and the situation.
Many ISTJs are very serious and work hard to achieve their goals. Some ISTJs like to lead, and some prefer to follow. One advantage of ISTJs is that they can take the time to measure their goals and plan, and they never rush into something if they don’t know how to do it. They enjoy taking charge and helping others who are in need.
ISTJs find it much easier to learn from their mistakes than other types. They can learn from experience and from learning from others, and this helps them to improve. Some ISTJs may even want to learn as many as three times as much as other types as they try to learn as much as possible about their interests.
ISTJs also tend to be fairly practical, and they are usually willing to try out new things if it will help them achieve their goals. They are not easily influenced by others, and they are also fairly independent.
US Special Forces was involvement in the Vietnam War where Bill served two tours of duty. During the war he suffered a knee injury as a result of shrapnel boring into his knee, causing permanent damage. Two days after the first Infection, Bill was at a veterans hospital waiting for an operation, possibly relating to his knee injury. When a resident staff attempts to make small talk in regards to Bill's missing family along with his smoking habits, Bill tells him to go practice somewhere else.
Out of the other three Survivors, Bill stands out most prominently as the leader of the group.
