Mattie Wheeler personality type is INFP, so she is at the opposite end of the spectrum from me. But I saw her in a room with three other people, and it was pretty clear that she was the leader of the group.
She had a habit of continuing to speak after everyone else had finished. She would talk for a few minutes, and then pause to let us know when she was finished talking. When you're in a room with 30 people, this can take a lot of time.
This is when I realized that she was the leader of the room, not just because she was the unofficial leader, but because she had that role in everyone's mind. The other people in the room know that she is who they are supposed to listen to, and they were waiting for her to finish talking before they went on.
I've seen this happen in my own work. I've watched people make decisions based on what they think their boss will think about it. They are thinking about their boss' opinion, even when it's obvious that their boss is not interested in what they are saying.
If you are the boss, chances are that you are not very interested in what your employees are saying.
