Iva’s mother became addicted to painkillers and heroin as a result of her physical and mental abuse as a child. Iva’s father disappeared as a result of their drug use, leaving Iva and her mother on their own.
Iva’s mother ended up in prison and died of an overdose. When she was 18, Iva and her younger sister moved into an apartment with their father and his new wife. Their father and stepmother had three children together and they all grew up together.
