Born in Seoul, Korea, in the mid-1960s, Sua Lee was the youngest of four children. Her Korean parents were both staunch Buddhists. Growing up in Seoul during the late 1960s and early 70s, she was exposed to an intense political climate, which informed her worldview as an adult. She embraced her Buddhist background, but she also saw the flaws in that faith and in other religions as well.
Sua Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 20s. It was the beginning of a personal struggle with cancer that continues to this day. She founded the Women’s Cancer Network Korea in 1997 and is an advocate for cancer awareness.
Lee has written several books, including The Woeful Years of My Life (2006), The Power of Three (2008), and Soulmates (2012). She has also released a number of albums.
