Childhood and family Life and childhood[edit] Dante Guerra was born in Rome on 2 January, 1969. He was born to an Italian mother, Anna, who worked for the United Nations, and an American father, Robert.[5] Robert, who is an author and journalist, worked for newspapers and magazines. He was killed during a bombing of the U.S. Embassy in 1978.[6] Dante's elder brother, Adam, was also killed in a bomb attack on the U.S. Embassy in 1984.[7] Dante has a younger sister, Laura, who is a teacher of English at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. She has also worked as a journalist. Dante graduated in 1989 from the American School of Rome[8] and spent the first two years of his career as a journalist with Italian newspaper "Il Giorno",[9] as well as with "La Repubblica" and "L'Unità", before taking up a position as press officer at the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) in 1996.
