When I first joined the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) in May of 2011, I immediately knew that I was an INFP. I was gifted with the gift of seeing things in a way that is only possible for an INFP. I had to be extra careful not to take things personally, because, let’s face it, I am an ENFP at heart.
I didn’t always know that I was an INFP, or at least the extent to which I was one. It wasn’t something that I asked about in childhood, but it was something that I started learning about in my early twenties. I remember the day when I was sitting in a class room at the University of Georgia, and the professor said to the class, “What is your Myers-Briggs Type?”
I raised my hand because I knew that I knew that I was an INFP type.
The professor then proceeded to inform me that no other one in that class knew this about themselves.
This only confirmed to me what I already knew. I was different.
