R. V. Burgin personality type is INTJ, but I’ve been told I have a lot of INFJ traits. I have a lot of INFJ traits, but I have a lot of INFP traits as well.
My first professional role was at a local business that was a direct-to-consumer company that sold services to companies that wanted to save money on their energy bills. I worked as a behavioral analyst. I spent about five years at that company. It was a fascinating time for me because the company was bought by a larger company and I worked for the larger company for a few years, and then I left to become a consultant.
What I learned from working directly with the people who use the services was that many of them were INFJ. It was really interesting because I saw myself in them. There were a lot of INFJ traits at work, and they were all struggling with their work and their relationships. Many of the challenges they were having were similar to what I experienced as an INFJ.
I began to realize that this is something that goes beyond just the INFJ and the INTJ, and those two groups are two different types.

Burgin was the author of the memoir Islands of the Damned: A Marine at War in the Pacific. Burgin is portrayed in the HBO miniseries The Pacific by Martin McCann. Burgin himself appears in documentary footage during the miniseries.
