A: I see you're in the same boat as Jim, and I think we need to focus on his need to express himself. While you don't see it as often, men will express their emotions in different ways than women. That's not to say that gender differences don't exist. They do, of course, but if you try to "fix" him, his male side will get the message that he doesn't have to express himself, and that could lead to a disconnection. Instead, partner with him and encourage him to be open with you. Help him find the words and the times when he can share.
