I get most of my ideas from a variety of sources, but I think the biggest influence is the fact that I’m an ESFP. ESFPs are often described as ‘the entertainers’, and I’ve been trying to entertain as much as I can since I was a kid. The worst part about the ISFP personality is the fact that I have to use brain power to talk to people, so it’s not even like they can be entertained. It’s tough being a one-person band.
The key to making a solo album is to find a balance between doing lots of things, and not doing many things. In my case, I didn’t want to be making a traditional album, so I decided not to have a band. My initial plan was to record all the songs at my home studio and release them on an EP, with some of them getting reworked for the album at some point in the future. So the EP would be like a demo, but instead of being released on a CD, it would be available for free on the internet.
