Srta Mizuki personality type is ENFP, but I do have lots of INFPs in my family, but I usually get ENFPs :)
From my experience, the best way to "get" an artist is to be an artist! Once you understand their process, and they understand your process, then the barriers in communication break down. I have found that many artists can easily read your mind and know what you are going to say before you say it; this means you can get feedback on your work quickly, where other people might have a really hard time expressing themselves through words.
I was a big fan of my Internet artist, and I knew that she had lots of fans from her previous work, so I tried to get her to do a design for me, but she said that her style was too personal to let people use it. I decided to work with someone else, and they made me a unique design and even did a few extra things that I requested! I was very impressed with their communication and professionalism.
I also have access to a large number of art samples that I have done in the past, so I often get ideas from browsing through them.
