Walter personality type is ENFJ, and ENFJs have a strong preference for service to others. While this is a broad and vague term, it does have some important implications for those who self-identify as a “helping” type. The first implication is that the ENFJ must feel a deep sense of emotional satisfaction in performing acts of service. It should be noted that this is not necessarily the same as “the feeling of altruism” which is felt by those who are “good” in their ability to feel happy and grateful for the things they have. This first feeling of satisfaction is simply an indicator of the fact that the ENFJ’s service is important to the recipient.
The second implication comes from the fact that ENFJs are motivated by their own unique needs and desires. While these needs and desires may be in alignment with those of the recipient, they are not necessarily consistent with the recipient’s needs and desires. This can lead to conflict, as the ENFJ begins to feel frustrated if his or her actions do not meet the expectations of the recipient.
