He said in fifth grade, he started chipping away at his weight, but it wasn’t until he was 12 years old that he shed his excess pounds.
“That was when my mom got me a bike,” he said. “I was like, ‘Yes! I can do this!’ I just had to get rid of the fat on my legs, and that was probably the most difficult part of it.”
Soon after losing the weight, he began to focus on losing his shyness.
“I realized that I had been shy for so long, and it was just something that had to go, so I decided to try and become a more social person,” he said.
