Dr. Iain Glennis personality type is ENFP, by the way) is the exact opposite of what I felt when I was in my 20s and listening to Michael (the main character) and his wife. I hated the way their marriage was portrayed. It felt so fake, something that was just tacked on as an afterthought, when really it was very important to the story. It didn’t feel real.
I don’t think this is the case with Dr. Glennis and his wife, but it’s not realistic either. I know there are a lot of people out there who have had a bad marriage and I know that I can empathize. However, I do not believe that everyone who has had a bad marriage has been married to their counselor for three years. Or for that matter, three years is a short period of time to be going through divorce.
