Kim Han-Yong personality type is ISTP, but the interpretation of ISTP here is not the same as the interpretation of ISTP in Jung’s typology. As I have said in my earlier post on Jung’s typology, Jung explains ISTP from the perspective of the theory of types (or typology) rather than from the perspective of Jung’s theory of functions.
Jung believed that there are three basic functions for every human being, and he called them ‘the first unconscious’, ‘the second unconscious’ and ‘the third unconscious’; and he also believed that every human being has a dominant function on one of them.
As we have seen in the previous post, Jung was not a fan of function theory, he believed that function theory is a very abstract and intellectual approach to psychological phenomenon, which is not useful in practical life. But on the other hand, Jung is the inventor of typology, which is a much more practical and useful approach to psychological phenomenon.
Jung’s concern for the practicality of typology is reflected in his personality type system.
