Jin Mu-Won was born in Seoul, Korea on September 17, 1956. He received his primary and middle school education in Seoul and entered Korea National University of the Arts in 1970 where he studied visual arts. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the same university in 1979. Jin Mu-Won then went on to study architecture for two years at Korea National University of the Arts in 1978 and 1980.
Since 1982 he has been teaching in Korea National University of the Arts (Korea National University of the Arts, formerly known as the Hanyang University of Arts) where he is currently an Associate Professor of Architecture.
