My apologies for the long introduction, but I'd like to explain how the ISFJ can be a good fit for the Idealist. For example, the ISFJ might be able to recognize that the Idealist needs a bit more structure in his life, but he feels like he can't give it to him. The ISFJ is also likely to know that the Idealist needs someone who can be his "rock" if he's going through a rough patch.
However, the ISFJ may feel that he's not that "rock" and won't want to be the one to be that. As an ISTJ, he feels like he has to be direct and factual when he's trying to help, whereas the Idealist prefers to keep things more vague, so he might put up with all of the Idealist's flights of fancy (which the ISFJ appreciates) until he eventually gets sick of it and tells him he needs to get his head out of the clouds and get serious.
