"This is the first time I've asked for a referral, so I'm not sure if they'll do it," says Tippe. "Even though they're a friend, and they know me pretty well, I'm still a stranger. I guess I could get a referral through my therapist, but that's not really the same."
So Tippe went to her local doctor to ask for a referral. The doctor tried to explain to Tippe that a referral is only necessary when someone suggests that you go see someone who doesn't know you. At that point, says Tippe, she lost her train of thought. She wasn't listening. She was just trying to understand what the doctor was saying.
"I've only been back from the hospital for two weeks," says Tippe. "I'm back at work, starting to get back into things again, and feeling good about my recovery. But it's not surprising that I'm having trouble getting back into things.
