The only time I was really that excited about the idea of a child was when I was pregnant with Maaike. I think that’s what made me so obsessed with the idea of kids. When you have a baby, you see it every day and you see it grow up.
Often there is a lot of pressure for parents to have their child baptized as soon as possible. Yet, if it is a Catholic baby, there is a big debate about whether or not parents should have signed up for baptism before they get married. How did you feel about this?
It was a hard decision for me. I didn’t want to get baptized after we got married because I thought it would be like a burden on us.
