FL-chan was introduced as the official character with the release of FL Studio 8 in March of 2008.
The developer Didier Dambrin was moved by Miku Hatsune, Vocaloid2, and he wrote in the internet forum that he wanted a character which was like Habanero-tan for FL Studio. A Japanese illustrator Uruido saw Didier's post, then he had the official request from Didier and conceptualized FL-chan.
Since then, FL-chan became the official moe mascot of the DTM application.
