Dormant Volcano personality type is ISFP, the same as his grandfather, and the only time he’s ever really been able to figure out what he is is when he was in the hospital with his grandfather. It’s the ISFP personality type that’s most defined by their emotional appreciation of nature, and the ISFP type is probably the least defined and most broad-minded of all the types.
This is why the ISFP personality type is usually the least common of all the sixteen types. It’s also why Gary is such a rare case: he’s an ISFP type with more of an INFJ personality structure than an ISFP, but I think that ISFPs are more likely than INFJ types to just be “neural” in their emotions.
The primal side of the ISFP personality type is very strong, and I think it’s what helps Gary understand what he wants and what he’s capable of achieving. It’s because Gary is so strongly ISFP that he’s able to acquire what would otherwise be impossible feats of strength.
