Tulsi is a child of the Indian Subcontinent. He was born in a village, located on the banks of the river Ganges (Ganga). The Ganga to this day is still regarded as sacred and a place of great spiritual importance in Hinduism. His father was a devotee of Shiva. Tulasidasa was one of the earliest poets to write in Sanskrit, which is the most ancient language in the Hindu tradition. He devoted a large part of his life to the study of Sanskrit, and he is regarded as one of the greatest poets of the nineteenth century. He is also known as a scholar, translator, and poet. In addition to his poetic works, he is considered an authority on the Vedas and other Hindu scriptures, as well as on astronomy.
