The story of Antonio Zequila is a dramatic one, he was born in the small town of Villa de Guadalupe, Mexico, which is located in the state of Jalisco. His parents were immigrants from Colombia, who came to Mexico because of the economic crisis that was taking place in the country at that time.
At a very early age, Antonio realized what the lack of money could mean for the family, and he began to work selling jewelry to help his parents support their family. When he was thirteen years old, Antonio’s father was killed in an accident while working in the fields. This traumatic event forced Antonio to live with his mother, who had to work as a maid to support both his and his mother’s family.
After graduating from high school in Villa de Guadalupe, Antonio moved to Mexico City, where he worked as an electrician and an insurance salesman. In 1976, Antonio dropped out of school and moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a carpenter and a chef.
