His relationship with his father was a major cause for emotional trauma, leading to a highly-fragile ego and a strong desire to please him as a means of avoiding abandonment. He wants to be loved for what he does, rather than for who he is. This caused him to not be able to express his feelings appropriately until much later in life, and he has been very afraid of being rejected since he was a child. His Asperger's causes him to be very analytical and focused on details, which might make him seem cold and unemotional. He is actually very emotional, but can't express himself very well and doesn't trust people easily. He tends to be very serious and quiet until he gets to know you better.
His experience in the military affected him greatly. He was trained to kill, and since he was made to be a ruthless killer, he found it difficult to trust other people. He currently has no close friends outside of the Army.
