Charles Darwin Described INTP Personality Type in His Essays on The Origin of Species
Charles Darwin was an INTP who, throughout his life, used his INTP traits to great advantage. In addition to his contribution to the field of biology, Darwin was not only an expert naturalist but an evolutionary philosopher as well. In his book The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex, Darwin describes the INTP personality type:
Intellect is often falsely confounded with logic. Empirical observation alone can distinguish between the two. The intellect, as we have seen, involves perception, reason, judgment, and comparison; logic involves mere classification and enumeration. The two faculties take widely different paths in most candidates for the doctor’s degree. Many persons of considerable mental endowment are found to lean more to the one side than the other.
