Lucretia (died c.  510 BC) was a famous Roman matron known for her purity and faithfulness to her husband Lucius Tarquinius. She was raped by Sextus Tarquinius, a youngest son of the King of Rome, and after telling what has happened to her husband and father she stabbed herself in her stomach in front of their eyes. As a consequence to Lucretias death, the King of Rome was banished along with his sons and the monarchy was destroyed, establishing Roman Empire instead.
