The sickly but humble God Nanahuatzin also came forward. The two gods purified themselves before they had to jump into a bonfire. Tecciztecatl was about to jump, but hesitated. Nanahuatzin jumped in and rose up to the sky as the sun. Tecciztecatl jumped in too. But it became way too bright. The gods threw a rabbit at Tecciztecatl and dimmed his light.
