Dark Matter personality type is INTJ, INTJ, INTJ, INTJ, INTJ and INTJ. The only other personality type that fits this description is the INTP, but the INTP's extra-curricular interests are very different.

"I know of no academic research on these, though I've read a lot of articles about them, many from the book "The Secret Life of the Brain: How your Mind Makes You who You Are" by Michael Gazzaniga. I think his conclusion is that we are all technically INTJs, but most people are actually just using their extra-curricular interests to compensate for their weak-spot IQ. (I've read this book but don't remember the details.)"
I have seen no research that supports this. I have seen plenty of research that supports the concept of "introverted thinking" as a way of understanding how introverts think. However, I have yet to see research that supports this idea in an article that links introversion with extroversion.

Dark matter is a hypothetical form of matter thought to account for approximately 85% of the matter in the universe.
