I think that if you're a Black, and you're getting surprised by something, you should probably consider finding out what's about to happen-- and why-- before making a move.
Black people are neither more nor less likely than any other group to be surprised by some aspect of life-- but rather than being shocked, it's more likely that a Black person will be surprised by something that should have been obvious. (Or, on the other hand, it could just be that Blacks have been conditioned to expect the unexpected, which might also apply to say, the world of physics and chemistry.)
On the other hand, "shock" is also a good word to describe how a Black person might react to something that seems out of place.
It's a good starting point for getting at where Blacks are different from most other people.
One other thought: I think it's OK for Black people to get "stunned" by something as well-- but it's not as automatic as it is for other people.
