In fact, my whole life has been about learning to be alone. I have always been the kind of person who will stay in my room for hours on end, or go out and come home to find that I have been the only one to do anything all day.
It's not that I don't enjoy company or that I want to be alone, or that I think people are stupid or annoying - it's just that I do find company exhausting, and as I've gotten older it's gotten progressively harder to be around other people.
My best friend has always been my own thoughts and my own imagination, two things that were not readily available to me when I was younger.
I also find it more difficult to keep conversations going than other people do - it's a sort of mental energy drain for me.
