No child wants to be called an intern. It sounds like a job. It sounds like they're just being ordered around without being given a say in the matter. And I know that sounds immature, but even adults have a hard time with this word. "Intern" implies that they're not really working at all. They're just sitting around in their office, waiting for the real work to begin.
I think we both know that's not true. Of course kids work hard - we're not idiots! But children aren't ready for the drudgery of "real" work (doing the same thing over and over, for hours on end). So if your child is a professional intern, I'd recommend finding a reputed company to intern with.
