The Good Place personality type is ENFP, and I haven’t seen many ENFPs in the show. If a good influence on the show, it would fit well with the main characters and the concept of their quest.
As for the bad influences on the show, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Janet’s character was a cliché representation of overbearing mother, as she is to her daughter. She knows she is overbearing, but just doesn’t care and wants to have control over everything. There’s nothing wrong with Janet wanting to be in her daughter’s life, but she should know when to let go.
That’s why I think parents are bad influences in The Good Place. They try to control and influence people in a way that isn’t healthy for them. It’s unhealthy because they are trying to manipulate their kids into being like them, which is not what kids want to do. It’s not okay to manipulate kids into being like you.
The Good Place makes a point that children need to learn what they can and cannot control. They don’t have to be like their parents, or anyone else for that matter.
